What procedures should I have in place before I apply for Employment Practices Liability Insurance?

Some procedure you should have in place, but not limited to:

  1. Employment application.
  2. Employee handbook
  3. Written job descriptions
  4. Formal procedures for hiring, evaluations, disciplinary actions, dismissal and exit interviews
  5. A Personnel Director should oversee all aspects of the employment practices (an Outsource Employment Agency may be acceptable)
Not having employment procedures in place may be the very reason you need to establish new internal controls and procedures and acquire Employment Practices Liability Insurance.
